Here's the latest news on what's happening

The stage is now well and truly set for the new direction my writing has headed in following the release of my book 30 Years Chasing Trains in 2016. Having spent a lot of time developing a fresh approach to the way a railway photography book is presented, the first of what I hope will be many Last Train books is now available. Last Train to Brisbane is a poetic portrait of our railways from yesteryear. Mixing hauntingly beautiful photographs with classic Australian bush poetry, the book pays tribute to some amazing small country railway stations around Brisbane's scenic rim, where it was once possible to board a train to Brisbane. Once more this is a premium full colour 8" x 10" inch book, and is available in either hard or softcover.

The book is intended as a nostalgic look at what still remains to be seen of the railways of yesterday. The cover layout looks fresh and my author name branding carries over from what I had already established with 30 Years Chasing Trains. Hot on its' heels will be the next instalment which will focus on another of my favourite abandoned railway lines, the former Murwillumbah line in northern New South Wales. Work on the second book should be completed before this Christmas, when I fly to Western Australia to celebrate 25 years of being married to my wife Denise.

Its a long way from where my career started for me with my first novel The Long Way Home in 2007, ten years in fact! I am still hopeful of re-releasing The Long Way Home in print as a special Tenth Anniversary Edition before the year is out. It was last available in paperback form in 2013. Should this be successful, then in-between producing future Last Train instalments I shall look at doing the same Tenth Anniversary Edition releases for A Walk Before Sunrise in 2019, Last Wish of Summer in 2022 and The Rag Doll Cafe in 2023. Rag Doll of course has only ever been available in eBook. So to bring this novel out in paperback will be special. By the time all this happens I will have turned 50. Hopefully by that time I will finally have a new novel available. If not, then I truly hope I've lost count of how many Last Train books I have released.

Whether it is the poetry, the haunting photography or the sheer nostalgia that draws readers to Last Train to Brisbane, I do hope it finds it way into bookstores and local gift shops across south east Queensland. These books are sure to become highly collectable in the years to come.

Here's my scrapbook of past achievements and news headlines

Here's a look back at my past Book Tours

After 7 years of touring the East Coast of Australia with my books, I made my final public appearance at the Maleny Celebration of Books in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland on 26 October of 2013. With my books being transferred to a digital-only platform for the immediate future, I was signing books for one last time before the curtains fell on the end of an era that saw me travel 11,649 km while making a total of 41 appearances and visiting every capital city along the Australian East Coast. Tours like these will not occur again until the release of my next novel and a return-to-print of my entire back catalogue.

2012 saw my first virtual book tour visiting 26 websites from the USA to the Philippines. Interviews, guest posts, reviews and lots of giveaways. This sure was one busy month! click to read more...

My third book tour in 2012 followed the release of my third novel, Last Wish of Summer. Launched locally in Caloundra, the tour was a local one, visiting 12 venues across the Sunshine Coast over the course of 9 months. click to read more...

My second book tour in 2011 saw me trek a total of 6,197 km while visiting 8 different locations between Tin Can Bay in Queensland, and Margate in far south Tasmania. It was my most ambitious tour so far, and one that probably will not be repeated for quite some time! click to read more...

My first book tour in 2010 saw me travel Australia's east coast from Pomona on the Sunshine Coast to Penrith, west of Sydney, visiting 13 different locations while covering a distance of 3,452 km. click to read more...

My earliest appearances as an author followed the 2007 release of my debut novel The Long Way Home, which was launched in Brisbane, Australia at Riverbend Books & Teahouse in Bulimba. click to read more...
